Thanks PD....this is priceless...

Prodigal Daughter wrote this comment on CHNI forums and it's worth posting. I thought it was great. I hear the same thing by some Protestants...."what about all the scandals and bad bishops and the bad popes?" Here's a quick and excellent response to those questions, tedious that they are...Evangelicals have their fair share of scandals...it's just never reported ad nauseam on the t.v. and media until they think every priest is a child molester and every bishop corrupt. Guess where the Truth and Real Presence of Christ is, hmm? The CHURCH that's being attacked night and day, 24/7 365. H/T PD!

PD writes:

A friend of mine who would like to convert asked "How do you trust the Church when there are corrupt bishops, etc.?" I put on my protestant filter and thought of an analogy regarding trusting the Bible to be the word of God.

I said, "If someone told Uriah the Hitite that the guy who was about to commit adultery with his wife, would write the Psalms that would later become The Word of God, do you think he would have believed it?" In other words, we trust that the CC is the true church not because of the fallible people who have been running it the past 2000 years but because JESUS SAID "You are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."

Very good.
I think protestants are a bit..well... don't they LOOK at their own churches? I've seen some awful things going on personally and yet that almost seems okay to them.
dont get it.

Thank Susie!

That chat was fun last night!! And guess what, I think I will be at the chat more often than I originally thought. Our RCIA team is more than adequate without me each week. :)

Hi PD... you're welcome. My husband thought your answer was excellent! "He said, "That's excellent!" : )

Yes, the chat was really fun. I was on cross daily for a while last night....wow. Hard core Calvinists on there. Whew! : )
