Confessions of a blogger gone barmy, Part Deux

They don't make 'em like this anymore. I saw Peter Noone in concert back in 1995. It was a horrendously hot, horridly humid July night and I wasn't "myself." Not my currently somewhat "better self" by the grace of God, that is. I ran down by the stage, 4 feet away, in a youthful frenzied regression that now makes me blush, (but it was worth it, in a way.) When I caught his twinkling blue eye and he winked at me with that boyish charm and that mischievous smile....

God kept me alive that night when I probably should not have been driving.

Yes, while we were yet sinners, He loved us.

He loves us enough to not let us remain in sin, but calls us to repentance and to become saints. This was a bleak time in my life but for one little moment, I had a happy night with a heart-throb of mine whose face had bedecked my bedroom wall as a girl of 10. Right along side Paul McCartney who I also got to see in 2005 here in Omaha. Omaha's been very good to me. But the most fun of all, and the biggest heart-throb of all, who I've been able to see daily? Jesus. His heart beats with mine at every Mass. He knows me and loves me just as I am, warts and all, but calls me to holiness and by his grace, I hope and pray to attain the holiness he calls me to live so that when I pass from this earth, I can see the best show of all, HIS HOLY FACE...aglow with glory.

I can hear Jesus singing this song to me and me to him, when we're all alone...in our secret place. He holds me tight there...and I need to go there. It's the adoration chapel. I don't get there often enough. It's the secret place we all can go...and we're intimately snuggled up to our Lord...he can sing to us. Stroke our hair. Whisper to us. Is this just off the bleepin' wall? Am I completely off my rocker? Am I one fry short of an order? If so, it's alright by me. I'm falling more madly in love with Jesus all the time! He's a bit "gah gah" over us too. Do we even have the remotest idea of how much he is "crazy in love" with us? His passion is relentless, and stronger than death. He conquered death for us and comes to us every Mass, completely giving himself, so we can be changed into his image to let others know how much he loves them. It's NOT ABOUT US....it's about HIM and what he wants us to be FOR HIM and FOR THE KINGDOM to come.

This is what came to me a few months ago. It's corny. But I'm corny. I now long for my 'Divine Lover.' Ok, So I'm nuts. Jesus was called worse. He sort of likes the way I think of him...My Lord, My God and my Lover and even now, my most dear Sacred Heart-throb. I don't mean that to sound so crass or too casual and disrespectful. I don't say it that way at all. I love the Holy Hush of Mass and when I wrote that to someone a while back, this song instantly came to mind... There's A Kind of Hush...so I 'turned it into my love song about Mass.' Someone call the white clad laddies, she's ready for the padded room! Just make sure it has a computer!

There's a kind of hush all over the world at Mass
All over the world when we receive the Lord,
True food that will last...
You know what I mean
As He gives Himself to us everyday we know
He's the Truth, Life and Way to the peace that will last
And with the Saints we can pray

So listen very carefully
Go to Mass and you will see what I mean
It isn't a dream
The only sound that you will hear
Is when He whispers in your ear
"I love you" forever and ever

There's a kind of hush all over the world at Mass
All over the world you can hear the sounds of Love from above
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la

So listen very carefully
Go to Mass and you will see what I mean
It isn't a dream
The only sound that you will hear
Is when He whispers in your ear
"I love you" forever and ever

There's a kind of hush all over the world at Mass
All over the world you can hear the sound of Heaven's sweet Love
Yeah, converts fallin' in love (with The Church)
Hush, they're fallin' in love (with His Church)
Hush

When you go to daily Mass at 6:15 am, no music, very reverent (and semi-tired) people, the "holy hush" is apparent. I almost prefer it over Sunday Mass, with people talking, unevenly sacred music, banging kneelers, etc.

It's not corny at all. If we don't have that sense, I think we miss something. Spousal love is supposed to image the divine love as well. If we wax poetic and romantic about other people and things in our life, why not the source of all Love?

Song of Solomon is not Corny either,
Nice poem Susie~!
God bless

Hey TZ, I'm so glad you popped in. Thank you for your comment. Another 'morning person!' : ) I've always preferred the early hours of the day for Mass, but many times I go to 5:30 Mass...it's not the same, but that "holy hush" is still there, like the silence before a kiss. Nobody can kiss if they're talking. In our former Evangelical fellowship, there was so much "noise" Even during the times when there was 'prophecy'...no one could keep quiet for more than a few seconds without being told by the Pastor to "please be quiet and let the word of God speak to you, to us" or something along those lines. We had 45 mins of sing and then the 45 minutes of preaching...and it was always the same pattern. Hmm, sounds like "RITUAL" to me, no?

TJ - you're right, bro. ; ) It's not corny to be infatuated with my most REAL LOVER. My TRUE HUSBAND, he made me and knows me inside and out like NO ONE on this earth can ever do...and today, I'm meeting him and we're going to 'cuddle down'...I need his breath on me, and his heart next to mine and I have to whisper my thanks and gratitude in his ear for the absolutely BEST afternoon and evening (yesterday) that I've had in quite some time! I'm still grinning like a Cheshire cat! A dear priest friend of Fr. Kevin's came to see me. We'd met in Rome and he came to the HFS and then we went to dinner and all I can say is 'PRAY FOR OUR PRIESTS!'.... you would not believe what this man has to deal with in his little town/parish. Oh my! Spending and consuming themselves for souls has been drastically shown to me, and has taken on it's FULL meaning. I'll never look at a priest without a prayer on my lips for him ever ever again. Pray for my friend, Fr. Gerard. THANKS to anyone else who may read this comment and prays for him, too.

PAX,
