ANYONE IN THE OMAHA AREA, PLEASE COME TO THE KVSS TENT AND MEET RICH AND I AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF OF THE RADIO STATION...WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU AND SHARE THE JOY OF OUR CATHOLIC FAITH WITH YOU!
Rich and I will be leaving soon for the Heartland Festival in downtown Omaha on the Quest Center grounds. This is going to be a BIG gathering of all faith persuasions and our Archbishop, Elden Francis Curtiss has endorsed this event. He is going to open the festival today, but I think we'll probably miss the opening, (as it starts in about 5 minutes and I'm still typing this) but we ask your prayers for us and RECON and KVSS and the Holy Family Shrine and the many (11 parishes) that will have volunteers at the two Catholic tents to offer hope, zeal, and Truth about the Catholic faith to wayward Catholics, lukewarm Catholics, lapsed Catholics, ex-Catholics, former Catholics and those just curious from other denominations and independent fellowships. I think this is a wonderful thing that Luis Palau has invited the Catholics in Omaha to participate. It is encouraging to know that those who fill out cards and might write that they "were" or "used to be" or are "former" Catholics, that they will be greeted and followed up with BY CATHOLICS on fire with the Spirit and in love with Jesus and HIS CHURCH! What a great thing and we're all so excited to be there to share the Truth and hopefully dispel myths and misguided notions regarding the CC.
Mr. Palau was interviewed on KVSS earlier this week, (but I don't see it in the archives yet) on Spirit Morning Show. It was a very hopeful and delightful interview with our own Father Lewis also in the studio. Evidently Archibishop Curtiss and Mr. Palau have met about 4 times during this past week, and 'hit it off' which is just great news for the entire community. Omaha is nearly 40% Catholic, so we hope that many recent reverts/converts and those honest seekers out there will be there to learn about RECON and how they can find a safe place to meet others who are going on this journey and have encountered the same various joys and struggles and find a real "community" among us, so that we can then enliven our parishes for those coming into the Faith this coming year through RCIA etc.

Is Luis Palau Catholic? I saw him speak at Urbana a missions conference in 1979, thought he was protestant.
Yes, TJ, you're right, he is Protestant, but I don't know anyone who "knows what denom or non-denom or inter-denom he may be. BUT, that's what was so cool about our Archbishop endorsing this...to show those curious and lapsed that Catholics are Christians, too! ; ) I have more to post... not many pictures but another reason I'm GLAD and PROUD (not arrogant proud) to be HOME IN ROME AND CATHOLIC!
