At the Holy Family Shrine during Lent...
Anyone in the Omaha or 'greater Omaha area' looking for a special way to prepare or partake in Lenten devotions are welcome to visit the Holy Family Shrine.
I'm from Lake Charles, LA. Where's home for y'all in Louisiana? I've not been there since I was 8 but I'd love to go back again. BTW, thanks for stopping by, Marc
My wife's parents are Duplessis' and Thibodeauxs and they "came up" in New Orleans. Although now they live in a small town outside Houma (post - Katrina)called Independence. I lived in New Orleans for eight years. Most of the people we knew or worked with have been scattered hither and yon - but a nice thing that worked out was that our kids' godmother (she brought me back a rock from Assisi and a crucifix blessed by John Paul 2nd) wound up living right near her mom in Independence.
Not 100 people in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Roman Catholic Church is. -- Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
I returned to the "First Pre-denominational Church of Christ," (as my husband brilliantly 'dubbed' it) aka: the Catholic Church in Dec. 2004, after my husband told me he wanted to go back to the "faith of his youth." The decision to swim across the Tiber has cost dearly, but has been worth it all! AND we are new grandparents of twin boys this summer, 2010!

Wow! That looks awesome. I have need now to drive through Omaha.
Hiya Chris,
Yes, I'd say that you do have reason. The place is HOLY GROUND. Serene, tranquil, and amazing.
If you do, I volunteer there on Tuesday afternoon. It'd be great to meet another Catholic blogger!
I'll keep that in mind. It will probably be a long time before I head that way, but it would be fun to check it out if I get a chance.
Take Care!

I hope to go back to Assisi someday. We were only there two nights last May and that was NOT long enough!
