To honor St. Therese yesterday, ...

I drove on my own little "day pilgrimage" to the Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph near Valparaiso, NE. It was just glorious! It was the most serene day I've had in weeks! I was there for almost 3 hours and was so blessed to hear the sisters sing their prayers, from behind the grill! It was a most angelic experience! More on the monastery here

My heart at times almost burst with joy and to be there ALL ALONE, with St. Therese and others with me of course, but to be the only "flesh & blood" person in the chapel was, dare I say, practically ...deliciously solitudinous! I prayed, cried, read, and sat...in complete silence, until a bell rang or the big bells rang and the sisters prayed. I can't recommend this to anyone with any more enthusiam, than to say "Leave your troubles behind at the Carmel!" To those who long to "get away" with their "Beloved Jesus." It was the best place for me to go, to the Carmel, to honor St. Therese, the "Little Flower" of the Carmelites. I asked her to join me did! She led me first to see a dear friend in a small town north of Wahoo, (who happens to love St. Therese,) and on my way there, I was prompted to give her a holy card, one of two left that were in my car, of St. Therese's parents' beatification of last year, that I'd gotten in S.D. in June, from the Carmelite sisters in Alexandria.

The place is just stunningly beautiful as you can see from the photos here. I have others I'll try to find and post soon.

Be His, Be Human, and Be "little"

That sounds very nice, we are going today to witness the valing of two friends of ours. I think at least one of our daughters has a vocation. Like being in Heaven if that's the calling GOD gives one.

Hi Richard. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Read St. Alphonsus Liguori True Spouse of Jesus Christ. It's mostly for religious, (although great for lay people who want to deepen their relationship to Christ)- it's amazing! I highly recommend it for your daughter. God bless.

It is a beautiful, serene chapel! It makes me happy inside to know that one of the nuns (novice) that you heard singing was my daughter. :) Being at Carmel is as close to Heaven as I know-- you are very blessed to be so close that you can visit whenever you choose! God bless you, epsecially in this Holy Season.

Thank you Peggy, for commenting. How glorious it is to be so close to Carmel and Heaven! Amen! To have a daughter there!! How blessed you are and all of us. Please thank her for obeying her Lord, to become His True Spouse and to pray for all of us, poor struggling souls in the world. I know contemplatives and cloistered keep the world spinning, and keep our Lord "patient" as they pray for us all. God bless you and yours this Holy Blessed CHRIST MASS! May it be Merry and Mary-filled! :)
