"This above all: to thine own self be true"
Watching an encore presentation of EWTN's The World Over, I was delighted to see Joseph Pearce interviewed about his book, The Quest For Shakespeare. Prof. Pearce is engaging. So was the Bard of Avon Catholic?
He may not have been Catholic. However it was a very different time. The world was not so steeped in paganism and satanism as it is today. The effect of Christendom which had just passed in the middle ages was still profound on the lives of the people. The middle ages were not looked upon as it is today. Hence the Christian spirit was still alive, the same cannot be said about today especially in the west.
Not 100 people in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Roman Catholic Church is. -- Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
I returned to the "First Pre-denominational Church of Christ," (as my husband brilliantly 'dubbed' it) aka: the Catholic Church in Dec. 2004, after my husband told me he wanted to go back to the "faith of his youth." The decision to swim across the Tiber has cost dearly, but has been worth it all! AND we are new grandparents of twin boys this summer, 2010!
