Hmm...something to think about and more...

Well, I have utmost respect for Dr. Alice Von Hildebrand. Anyone care to comment on this? I've at times wondered about the possiblity that Christopher might have "charged" in where angels fear to tread...but have never opened my mouth about it. I know he's a decent guy, but he was very young when all this "fame" came about. I do wonder what course he's been on of late. I never saw the ABC interview, so I can't and won't comment on that. My thought and opinion here is to not "write off" and glibly dismiss Dr. Von Hildebrand as an "old woman" not 'in the know.' She's got a lifetime more wisdom than West has about all of life, the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful/sexual. God's will be done. God bless him.
I would hope that Christopher might one day, before too long, arrange an appointment to sit down with Dr. Von Hildebrand and discuss this. He may just need a 'talkin' to' from one much wiser than he, as the old folks used to say. I've not heard much about this "hoopla" lately. I know we all have our "pet figures" in the Catholic entourage of public speakers, so it's my hope we don't simply have 'knee-jerk' reactions, keep our "emotions" under prudent control and maybe this can be worked out ... for the good of all. I really hate to see such discrepancy in the "ranks" if you will, but I'm going to risk it and say, I'm with the good Doctor on this one. Maybe it's because I'm 54 now...but I've heard her speak a lot more than CW. Our elders get "blown off" like crazy in this society, culture and sadly in the Church (at least in "have it your way" American Church) and I'm not going to go with the 'flow of the youth' on this one. She makes a very valid argument, IMHO.

I have personally heard Christopher West speak. Yes he may come across as Dr. Hildebrand states. Yet, his message if for the young and this is how they talk and look at things. It has to be spack dab in the face and no room for mush. They have been many Bishops commenting in favor of his message. I think it has been a God send. John Paul II's Theology of the Body is also crossing Denominational boundries. Who knows how many will convert to Christ's Church because of it. My opinion again is that we have to read it to get the full picture.
