Church - Do the "surrounds" make a difference to the soul?

HERE
or
HERE?

"Seek (set your mind on) those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God." Preached St. Paul to the Colossians. Colossians 3:1-2

Which place seems to draw the spirit, the heart, the mind upward ... to contemplate those 'higher things?'

I'm just sayin'...

Caveat: I'm not saying anything derogatory about the Minister who's having church in the old, dying mall and crime ridden area. God bless him. I'm only saying that God gave us eyes for beauty. Beauty helps us to focus more on God. Churches do not have to be "ornate" or filled with statues, stained glass and magnificent high altars...but it sure does help! In other cultures, they "pour all they have" into making even the more simple, primative places where God dwells, a place made "special"... but Americans, we're just too preoccupied with things of this earth ... at least it sure seems that way.
