He is in full communion with The Church. He is no longer working in a ministerial capacity. Yes, he really messed up. Yes, it is very sad. He has made his full confession, is doing the penances prescribed and has been forgiven (confession, penance, reconciliation.) I have e-mailed him in a helpful, kind manner and I suggest you might, too. Perhaps we've not done what he did, but we are all sinners. I wonder how many of our sins that we'd rather no one know of, would Jesus have written in the sand? Let's move on with what is and support his efforts to make right what he did and the consequences thereof. Who am I to think I am higher than Jesus, who forgave him? BTW: I am a VERY conservative Catholic. I wear veils to Mass and Adoration, I use old (1800's to early 1900's) prayer books. I use the Ignatius Bible as well as a Bible my father owned in the 1940's. I am A HUGE PRO-LIFE PERSON.
But, here, I must say, is where the True Faith comes in. Let's support the penitent sinner.
Thank you for coming by and for your comment. I have prayed for him since finding this out, and am sorry if I gave any indication of being "higher" than Jesus or sounded bitter. I was "stung" to find out, but of course will always pray, and couldn't agree more with what you've written. It just breaks my heart however, but my feelings won't get in the way of my praying. PAX, susie
Not 100 people in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Roman Catholic Church is. -- Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
I returned to the "First Pre-denominational Church of Christ," (as my husband brilliantly 'dubbed' it) aka: the Catholic Church in Dec. 2004, after my husband told me he wanted to go back to the "faith of his youth." The decision to swim across the Tiber has cost dearly, but has been worth it all! AND we are new grandparents of twin boys this summer, 2010!
