RUSH: Folks, we have got to drive these people out of office. We have to start now. The Republicans in Congress need to start throwing every possible tactic in front of everything the Democrats are trying to do. This is getting absurd. Listen to this. Henry Waxman and Edward Markey are putting the finishing touches on a 648-page global warming and energy bill that will certainly finish this country off. They're circulating the bill today. The text of the bill ought to be up soon at a website called globalwarming.org. The bill contains everything you'd expect from an Algore wish list. I don't know how this will not raise energy prices to crippling levels; finish off the auto industry as we know it, 648-page global warming and energy bill. I have a quick question. What would happen to these people -- and I think it's already been done -- but let's just pretend, let's pretend that there was incontrovertible evidence that global warming is not happening. Let's say there was incontrovertible evidence that the whole thing is wrong and that the scientists who have been touting it for decades, years now, let's just pretend they came out and said, "You know what, we're wrong about this. In fact, there is no global warming, there's global cooling," I wonder how Washington politicians would react. My guess is they would say, "We can't trust this, this is too important," and they would move ahead with all of this freedom-limiting legislation anyway because that's what this is about. Pollution controls, they're so greatly enhanced now to the point that these mini-engines that are on these fuel-efficient cars, these little three-cylinder cars, they're so overwhelmed they could barely move phone booths, they can barely move themselves. You put two people in them and you're basically ticking along. I think one of the things that's at the root of this, think of the combustible engine and what it has meant to the development of this country. People able to go anywhere in the woods, in the tundra, wherever they had to go to develop things, to build things, the American automobile is one of the greatest illustrations of human freedom. You get in it and you go where you want to go, and that's what's irritating to people. The fact that you can't go any further than 300 miles without stopping for 45 minutes or an hour to charge your electric car is a boon. The less you travel, the more that you are inspired, motivated to take mass transportation, public transportation, the more that you are conditioned to live in places where you won't have to drive, that is what these people are after. As I said, we have a gigantic new audience to this program, the tune-in factor is just through the roof. For those of you who are new to the program, I want you to please understand that the criticism of the Obama administration here and the disagreement with practically every element of his agenda is based on one thing. We do not want to lose the liberty and freedom that we were born with in this country and that has made this the greatest country on earth, that has given us the greatest, most prosperous lifestyle any of population of human beings in the history of the planet. It has been liberty; it's been freedom; it has been the ambition and desire to use that freedom in the concept of self-interest. I want to spend more time on this in a future program. But this notion of sacrifice that the president talked about yesterday is just over the top. Liberals always talk about sacrifice, Obama, every time he opens his mouth, mentions the need for people to sacrifice. We all must suffer. We all have to jointly suffer in order for all of us to somehow be the same, and self-interest, selfishness is condemned. And self-interest not selfishness. Self-interest is what built this country. Somebody starting a business did it in his self-interest. He didn't start a business so that there would be jobs and health care in the community. He started a business because he loved the business that he was in. He loved the business that he wanted to build. He had a product or a service that he thought would improve the lives of people. He wanted to sell it to them; he wanted to make it available to them. Everybody wins when everybody's acting in self-interest. Selfishness is a different thing. Self-interest is excellence; self-interest is what's desired; self-interest is what makes people want raises; self-interest is what makes people want their families to be secure; self-interest is what makes parents want their kids to be properly educated; self-interest is what propels the United States military to victory. Not sacrifice. Not the concept of sacrifice. Sacrifice is giving something to somebody you don't know to make yourself feel altruistic. You're not sacrificing. It doesn't make you great. But giving something to your family because you provided it for them, that is good. But if you run around just giving people who do nothing for you, who are just worthless, don't have anything to do with you, you're cheating them out of their own self-interest.
When you vote for politicians who take from your back pocket to give to others, you think it's compassionate, you think it's caring? It's not. It's depriving the recipient of his own quest for self-interest. The brilliant writer and novelist, Ayn Rand, has written about this. Let me give you a couple quotes from Ayn Rand on this. "It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master." That is President Obama. "Where there is sacrifice, there's somebody collecting the sacrificial offerings." What does it mean? President Obama says, "We all need to sacrifice," for this reason or that reason. What it means is we all need to pay more; we need to have less affluent lives; we need to dial down our prosperity, and we need to give the money to him, not a charity. He's going to eliminate, for all intents and purposes, the tax deductibility, it's going to be 28 cents for every dollar, charitable donations. He wants to be the distributor of the charitable donations. He wants to be the distributor of the goods because he wants the glory. "So it only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's somebody collecting the sacrificial offerings." Who is it that's talking about sacrifice? President Obama. Who's going to collect your sacrificial offerings? President Obama and his government. And "where there's service, there's somebody being served." There's no sacrifice in service. We have a lot of people who love to talk about minorities, do we not? The minority is put upon, needs special consideration, special rights, the minority is put upon by the majority. The minorities are not granted equal treatment, and minorities need special considerations, it's not fair that they're a minority. What is the smallest minority on earth? This is not a trick question. What is the smallest minority on earth? Mr. Snerdley, I will start with you. Nope. The smallest minority on earth is not wealthy people. Dawn, do you want to take a stab at what is the smallest minority on earth? You'll never get it, but when I tell you what it is, you will think it's brilliant. Strawberry blondes are not the smallest minority on earth. Brian, you want to take a stab at it? Don't tell me owners of Spanish speaking radio stations. What is the smallest minority? You're never going to get it. The white male is not the smallest minority on earth. People would never get this 'cause we're not conditioned to think this way. The smallest minority on earth is the individual. We are all different. We are all individuals. We are being told to sacrifice our individuality. We're being told we must assemble in other groups of victims. Well, not all of us because some of us are the victimizers. The smallest minority on earth is the individual and thus those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities. This administration claims to be a minority administration, first black president, historical nature. This administration is out to destroy the whole concept of individual rights under the guise of sacrifice, pay equalization, equalization of outcomes in other areas. But the smallest minority on earth is you, as an individual. You have individual rights, as granted by God, who created you, and our founding documents enshrine them: Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. Those rights don't come from other men or governments or women. They come from our creator, God. Higher power, whatever, however you want to look at it.
The smallest minority on earth is the individual, and I dare say that in this country today there's no one looking out for the individual, other than me. Nobody is looking out for the individual. In fact, in this country, just as it happened in Soviet Russia, just as it happens in North Korea, as it is happening in Venezuela, and as it happened in Cuba, the individual must be stamped out, the individual must be stomped upon, the individual as a concept must be done away with, and, as such, there go individual rights. You don't have individual rights nearly to the degree that you once did, not when you have been forced by either guilt or stigma to buy a car that you don't really want. When you're buying a car because you think it will get you less criticism, when you buy a car because you think people will think you're wonderful, but not because you want that car, you have sacrificed your individual rights. You have said, "My worth as an individual, my worth as who I am doesn't count anymore. I am going to define my worth by what somebody thinks of me. I'm going to define my worth by how little criticism I will get. I'm going to define my worth by how much I can make people think I care," based on the tug of popular sentiment each and every day. When any of you decide to do away with pursuing what you want in your best self-interest, you are sacrificing who you are. You are giving up control of your essence, and you are saying, I would rather be a member of a group that is approved by people so that I don't get criticized or so that I'm thought of as enlightened or so that I'm thought of as advanced. In the process, you are helping to destroy the very foundational building blocks of the greatest country on earth, the country in which you happen to be born and the country in which you happen to live. So giving up your individual identity, giving up who you are, sacrificing your passions and your desires and your own self-interests for the so-called common good, who gets to define the common good? I would define the common good as everybody acting as an individual, born as he or she is, pursuing self-interest. That's the common good. That built cities; that built a great country; that built railroads and engines. It built airplanes. It built everything. People denying who they are did not. When you deny your individuality, when you give it away for acceptance into a subgroup of people, you are harming the country; you are letting the country down; you are not pulling your weight. You are seeking approval, self-love and acceptance from all of the wrong sources. You're giving up the greatest gift you ever had, and that's who you are. And we have an administration that wants you to willingly and excitedly, eagerly give up who you are for a common good they define, a common good that requires you to deny who you are, your individuality, what makes you different from everybody else, whether you're not as good or whether you're much better at certain things. You will become a number. You will become a robot who can be programmed and inspired and motivated to behave in approved ways, and you will be taught to think you are virtuous when doing so, when all you've done is sold yourself and your country out. You give up your individuality, you sacrifice who you are, you allow that to be taken away for some mythical status as a member of a group, you are giving up your passion to become a moderate, or worse. People without passion never built anything. People without passion never got one thing done. People without passion are drags on achievement and accomplishment. That's what this administration wants you to become.

How can we be so cold to a Mother so warm with deepest love...
She loves us all, saint, sinner, believer, agnostic, atheist... Our Mother only wants all of her children to come to rest in her Son.

Most atheists these days just seem to be so vile and full of vitriol, they have not one iota of respect, like the old days, when even if they didn't believe there to be a God, they kind of just 'left you alone' and didn't 'get in your face' spewing such venom. Now, all polite restraint is gone. They believe THEY'RE RIGHT, while WE Catholics/Christians are nothing but stupid and WRONG and the cause of all the trouble in the world. I'll give them one ounce of credit when they build as many hospitals and tend to the sick and dying in this world with the same CHARITY as Catholics and Christians have done for centuries. I bet many of them went to a university that would not exist had there not been a CATHOLIC CHURCH by the way!

Who knew? First in the world...
And I never knew this. I also wasn't a practicing Catholic during the years of 1987 -1991 when we lived in Clovis CA. (near Fresno) We went out to Fresno in 2007 and went to see her shrine, but it was closed. We walked the grounds and visited the grotto/rose garden. Very interesting for those who love St. Therese ...and who could not?
The embedded link I originally had isn't available anymore, it was Bakersfield something or other. On the above link, go to line (date) 1919 you'll see that the Shrine in Fresno is the FIRST in the world dedicated to St. Therese. Here's more.
I find that quite curious...Fresno is so far away from France...and not the most popular of cities in the state of California. It's a good city, and we did like it there, as it had a more "Omaha" feel to it, being more agricultural and smaller. The Fresno/Clovis area is really quite nice and so close to the mountains. I think St. Therese has been following me for years, and I'm just now seeing the part she's played, at least in my mind, in bringing us back to the Church Jesus built upon Peter. Thank you, St. Therese. Please pray for me to never be separated from Jesus or His Church ever again. Amen.

The fact that the recently elected president of the United States referenced Joachim of Fiore three times during his electoral campaign has renewed interest in medieval monk's teachings. Few of the people who talk about him, especially on the internet, know or care to know just what exactly this author said. Every idea of church or world renewal is offhandedly attributed to him, even the idea of a new Pentecost for the Church, which was invoked by John XXIII.
It got me to exploring and I found THIS.

Regarding the post below...and dreams...
I have been reading Mark's blog for about three years now, and every time I read it, it's been absolutely uncanny! The articles he writes have been hitting it so on target! There are things going on that many of us know, in our 'guts' but sometimes have no one to tell or talk to about it, because they seem to think we're a little "crazy in the head" or if they don't come out and say it, you can ascertain that is their thinking by their 'deer in the headlights' look that comes across their face and their pause with the uncomfortable silence one gets when saying something that provokes or bothers another, the awkward lull, then the quick change to another topic, or the abrupt, "Well, see ya, I must be going."
I've had some very vivid dreams this past year. I am not putting myself on a scale of mystics and prophets of the Church by any means. I am a 'little nobody' in the 1.2 billion Catholics on this earth. I'm a little person, in Omaha Nebraska, (well, not as little as I used to be, which is probably due to my lack of exercise) who reads a lot of spiritual books, has only been a practicing Catholic for just over 4 years, knows some good people, has a few solid-in-their-faith Catholic friends. I have a part time job, that is not glamorous at all, I never went to college, so no degrees appear behind my name. I'm in my 50's and have a comfortable little house, a wonderful husband and two wonderful sons, and a dear daughter-in-law. I have a little dog, named Tigger, who is the companion we love to come home to after our day out in the world. Until just recently when she's had some sort of 'bug' and has lost her bowel control of late, hence the need for some grooming and Febreze purchases.
In my dreams that still are so vivid in my memory, there have been wolves, flying black and white horses that were 'evil' looking, that I saw through a sky light, much like the sky light at our church, St. Robert Bellarmine. I've seen an apartment blow up, and then out across a field, in a business park area, many buildings blow up, like mines in a field in the war movies of old, only these were bigger explosions and kept coming closer and closer to where I was. I've seen in a most recent dream, red wine in a goblet that I poured to sip while reading a book start to bubble like it was boiling and just before asking my friend if hers was bubbling, she immediately knew what I was going to ask, and says "Yes, mine is too!" This morning I had a dream about being in a museum with armed guards standing all around the permimeter of the room, making sure no one steals, or touches any object, and how creepy it was to know that we were being held at gunpoint just to walk through a museum, here in America! I also had a dream of St. Padre Pio last year, on Feb. 1 about 3 or 4 in the morning. He was sparkling white, translucent, knelt to tend my hurt or broken foot or ankle, and then prayed for me, blessed me and left around the corner as quickly as he had appeared.
I don't think these dreams are on the par of Blessed Catherine Emerich or anyone else, but they are occurring rapidly and seem to have significance of some sort. I also get 'words' in my heart/mind, that come to me, and or phrases that start to appear everywhere I go, either to a blog, a website, or picking up a book, a card, a missal, my Daily Psalm book, everything seems to connect like a puzzle piece in the course of my day, or week.
I've heard that dreams that are so vivid, that remain in one's memory are important to that person, and can be God speaking or a Saint speaking God's truth to that soul, and maybe with a good Spiritual Director I could begin to see how and what this all means. I do tell certain people that I know "get it"...and don't think I'm nuts. I have a few good friends I trust and that is 'spiritual direction' as are the books I read, which have been very good for my growth and progress in being who God has made me to be, little by little. I wanted to 'lift' Mark's blog post on our Pope Benedict XVI as it struck me so, mostly due to conversations I've had with a good friend the last few days/weeks/months about this very thing. The 'schism' in the Church that has widened now, is not the ones we've known about, i.e. Saint Pius X etc. but the one that is most dire of all, the "pro life" vs. "pro choice/abortion" Catholics. The BIG split that has fomented for the last 30+ years and came to fruition during the election of President Obama. Knowing his stance, voting record and agend with NARAL, they voted for him anyway.
When I heard that 54% of voting Catholics voted for him I was stunned and then, grieved, because I believe it's due to the 'wolves' is sheeps' clothing that caused that huge number to DISOBEY the Church, and their bishops. They've thumbed their noses at their Bishops' letters, and the magisterium and also the Pope, putting their wallets above innocent life. The fact that 4000 babies are murdered, put to death, executed in their mother's womb, or just being born with partial birth abortions, doesn't register with these "catholics" and we wonder why we're in the mess we're in??!!!! Give me a stinking break!
Just last Sunday, March 22, at 11:55 p.m. my bed shook, like there was a tremor, (I lived in the Bay Area for a while in California so I know what the tremors feel like) it lasted about 1.5 seconds, very fast but enough to give me pause, as I have NEVER felt that before here in Nebraska, ever! But curiously, I did some research and found that geographically, geologically there is a link, a connection to siesmic activity in Alaska directly to Nebraska. The recent eruption of Mr. Redoubt overnight (Last Sunday) also makes me wonder if indeed I felt something that had occurred there, that caused my bed to shake? I've not heard of anyone else saying they felt anything, but I've only asked one person, and it was so brief, many might not have noticed it. But I've been 'attuned' to such things, and 'signs' for quite a while, so I find many 'connect the dot' moments and tuck them in my heart, to ponder and to 'prepare' as St. Maximilan Kolbe has "told me" when I look at his image on my cubicle wall at work. I bought it last Fall and have heard nothing but that word every time I look at him. It's no coincidence that I read 3 biographies on him last summer. He's been speaking to me and maybe others lately, and how uncanny again that it would be someone, a priest no less, who was taken prisoner, tortured and finally put to death.
The hatred for Catholics and the Church has grown incredibly fast the past few years. She IS the target, because She still proclaims the TRUTH. She is hated the most by the most intolerant "tolerant" ones! They PRIDE themselves on being tolerant but in the end they only HATE and mock what they don't understand, and sadly many don't WANT to understand what they hate and mock.
We need to prepare ourselves, and put our "houses in order" meaning our inner, spiritual life, and draw closer to our Lord in all ways, especially Mass DAILY if at all possible and most of all CLING to Our Lady, Mother Mary, for SHE IS OUR ONLY HOPE for the times that are coming. I'm reading The Glories of Mary by St. Alphonsos Liguori and I can't recommend it enough for anyone for RIGHT NOW. It is the book for all of us and FOR THIS MOMENT! God bless, and keep you all.

I have met many wonderful lay people, deeply committed priests, and devoted and reverent religious. But they have become so few in number that I am beginning to hear the words of Jesus in a new and startling way:

THE ATTACK ON BENEDICT
It is unprecedented in our times to see the kind of criticism leveled against the Holy Father. Calls for Pope Benedict to step down, to retire, to be impeached, etc., are rising not only in number but in intensity of anger. Newspaper columns, comedians, and regular news shows feature guests and commentaries which are shockingly rude and vulgar. The Holy Father recently commented on the pain which personal attacks have caused him, particularly from those within the Church. Common respect and courtesy are becoming, it seems, a thing of the past—and the "frog" seems oblivious.
There will be terrifying times in the last days. People will be self-centered and lovers of money, proud, haughty, abusive… irreligious, callous, implacable, slanderous, licentious, brutal, hating what is good… as they make a pretense of religion but deny its power. (2 Tim 3:1-5)
Some news services have even cited an anonymous source within the Vatican curia who is calling this papacy "a disaster." Yes, if you are an apostate, then Pope Benedict is a disaster. If you are a radical feminist, he is an obstacle. If you are a moral relativist, a liberal theologian, or a lukewarm coward, then indeed, this Pope is a big problem. For he continues to shout from the rooftops the truth which sets us free. Whether it is guaranteeing the sanctity of marriage in North America or exposing the condom-lie in Africa, this Pope has been untiring in teaching the truth. But this truth, like a Smoldering Candle, is quickly disappearing:
In our days, when in vast areas of the world the faith is in danger of dying out like a flame which no longer has fuel, the overriding priority is to make God present in this world and to show men and women the way to God. Not just any god, but the God who spoke on Sinai; to that God whose face we recognize in a love which presses "to the end" (cf. Jn 13:1)—in Jesus Christ, crucified and risen. JUDAS…
I mentioned recently how American seer, Mary Reilly, saw in a vision who the next Pope would be (Cardinal Ratzinger). In that same vision, she saw behind him a figure in shadow—a man dressed in a black cassock and black biretta with a pom-pom on top, who suddenly turned into a scorpion. Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich had similar visions of this dark figure:
I was taken to Rome where the Holy Father, plunged in affliction, is still concealed in order to elude dangerous exigencies. His chief reason for lying concealed is because he can trust so few… The little black man in Rome*, whom I often see so often, has many working for him without their clearly knowing for what end. He has his agents in the new black church also. If the Pope leaves Rome, the enemies of the Church will get the upper hand… I saw them intercepting or turning away the roads that led to the Pope. When they did succeed in getting a Bishop according to their liking, I saw that he had been intruded contrary to the will of the Holy Father; consequently, he possessed no legitimate authority… I saw the Holy Father very prayerful and Godfearing, his figure perfect, through worn out by old age and manifold sufferings, his head sunk on his breast as if in sleep. He often fainted away and seemed to be dying. "black" here does not mean skin color, per se, but "sinister."
Blessed Anne seems to have perfectly described Pope John Paul II. If so, her vision of an illegitimately elected leader—"the little black man in Rome" or someone he appoints—may be on the horizon. Her vision continues:
I saw enlightened Protestants, plans formed for the blending of religious creeds, the suppression of papal authority… I saw no Pope, but a bishop prostrate before the High Altar. In this vision I saw the Church bombarded by other vessels… It was threatened on all sides… They built a large, extravagant church which was to embrace all creeds with equal rights… but in place of an altar were only abominations and desolation. Such was the new church to be… —Ibid. Vol. II, p. 346, 349, 353
EXILE
This dark Revolution in the Church and the world has been prophesied by several saints and proven mystics in which the Holy Father will go into exile.
Religion shall be persecuted, and priests massacred. Churches shall be closed, but only for a short time. The Holy Father shall be obliged to leave Rome. —Blessed Anna Maria Taigi, Catholic Prophecy, Yves Dupont, Tan Books, p. 45
A direct attack on the papacy was foreseen by his predecessor, Pope Pius X:
I saw one of my successors taking to flight over the bodies of his brethren. He will take refuge in disguise somewhere; after a short retirement [exile] he will die a cruel death. The present wickedness of the world is only the beginning of the sorrows which must take place before the end of the world. —POPE PIUS X, Catholic Prophecy, p. 22
The Holy Father knows there are wolves within his ranks. In a statement that was both unexpected and possibly prophetic, Pope Benedict said in his inaugural homily:
Pray for me, that I may not flee for fear of the wolves. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, April 24, 2005, St. Peter’s Square, Homily
SHEPHERDLESS
As I wrote in A Black Pope?, we will always be guided by "the rock," Peter. Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against him and the Church. But that does not mean that the Church will not be temporarily shepherdless at some point, and that an illegitimately elected bishop could rise in his place. But there will never be a legitimate pontiff who will lead the flock into heresy. That is Christ’s guarantee.
In the meantime, we can gauge the apostasy in the Church by reading the level of antagonism against the Supreme Pontiff. A moment will come when a pope will be driven into exile. The precursor to this is clergy who have fallen into apostasy:
Strike the shepherd, that the sheep may be scattered… (Zech 13:7)
So they were scattered, because there was no shepherd… As I live, says the Lord GOD, because my sheep have become a prey, and my sheep have become food for all the wild beasts, since there was no shepherd; and because my shepherds have not searched for my sheep, but the shepherds have fed themselves, and have not fed my sheep; therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: Thus says the Lord GOD, behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my sheep at their hand, and put a stop to their feeding the sheep; no longer shall the shepherds feed themselves. At times one gets the impression that our society needs to have at least one group to which no tolerance may be shown; which one can easily attack and hate. Our Lady of Fatima...
Our Lady of Fatima, who guided the bullet meant to kill JPII, our Pope, pray for us! Please redirect the many bullets aimed at us, so that we may fight the good fight in this coming immense and great battle. Some of us may in fact die. We have to realize that. We must be willing to be martyrs, to be witnesses to the faith. To proclaim truth, even at the cost of our reputations, our jobs, and possibly even our lives. How we need your love, your protection, your motherly graces and your mercy. We have become complacent and mediocre in our lives. We must be the Eucharisitc people, the 'new springtime' JPII spoke of is now emerging in the Church. We are called to be here, for this time, this place, this 'season.' As the saints of old were called to be where they were in time.
Please take pity on us, and pray for us to become bold as lions, gentle as doves, and to pray for our country. We know persecution is coming, we've ignored your warnings for years and I for one am sorry. My sins even now still ripple out and affect the Church and the world, even minor ones, even venial ones. Forgive me, my Mother. I pray to never be seperated from your Immaculate Heart. Please never let me be seperated from you, or from my Lorc Jesus. We wonder why the world is going to hell in a hand-basket? We've only to look at ourselves, and see that putting economy our wallets, our agendas, our "rights," our wants above the unborn children is a grave, mortal sin. Let's call it what it is. SIN. When 54% of voting Catholics voted FOR a culture of death, well, what do we expect but hell? If those Catholics had been obedient (to obey is better than sacrifice) to the Church and her authority, we'd might be given more time, but now with the world going to hell, we'd better cling to Mary, repent of our sins of greed and materialism run amok, and turn to Our Lady, Our Mother, Our ONLY HOPE. I read this and want to weep. I'm afraid for our young who are now starting their lives, marrying and giving in marriage...grandchildren who'll be 'thrown to the wolves' in school, even Catholic schools, which many are just Catholic in name only. If those many Catholics had voted for LIFE, above the wallet, we'd be seeing a brighter future. But now, I thank God that this is the 'reality check' for many. Our consciences need to be 'violently shaken' as Mark Mallett said in a recent post. This is what the WORLD wants, this summit, this global meeting on 'population and development' is what citizens of the world want. CITIZENS OF HEAVEN, as WE ARE can NOT want this!!!

We Surround Them, Omaha Meet Up at Fox & Hound...
There were over 300 people who came to the Fox & Hound Friday at 3 p.m. for the Meet Up gathering. Thanks to Glenn Beck for getting so many of us to UNITE for our country and our values and principles. It was great meeing so many of like mind. There was not one rude comment to be heard. We're not a wild-eyed fanatical bunch of mean-spirited people as so many out there have labled conservatives. We only want the best for our country. We don't think Socialism is what is best. It's not what this country was founded on and we're not going to wilt and watch this great nation go down the road to where those on the extreme Left want to take it. We are normal, hard-working people, who play by the rules and pay our 'fair share.' We don't read anywhere in the gospel that Jesus told his disciples to "steal from the rich, scrape off the top, and then toss out a crumb to the poor." That is NOT what He tells us! He said "Give to the poor," not "Give to the Government so they can get fat and evermore greedy, doling out a mere morsel to the poor via some ineffective and wasteful and even destructive government program that strips everyone of their dignity."

Watch this short video, (first there's a commercial) from CNN. Former Clinton News Network. Now Commie News Network. Ok, maybe that was a little harsh, but it's not like they're exactly FAIR and Balanced by any stretch! To think our former President is saying this and believing it makes my jaw drop in total amazement! My husband thinks the word he might have been meaning was "implanted?" Even if he used the word 'implanted' he still doesn't KNOW if an embryo is HUMAN!??

Bioethics Defense Fund Condemns Obama’s “Obsolete Science Bailout Plan”
March 9, 2009. As part of its educational mission, Bioethics Defense Fund (BDF) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s executive order regarding federal tax-payer funding of new human embryonic stem cell lines:
“The effect of President Obama's Executive Order is to direct scarce federal tax dollars to research that is immoral, ineffective and, given recent scientific advances, unnecessary," said BDF President and General Counsel Nikolas T. Nikas. In highlighting the missed opportunity that President Obama had to unite our nation around recent breakthrough research methods, Nikas pointed to a March 4, 2009 article by former NIH head Dr. Bernadine Healy entitled “Why Embryonic Stem Cells are Obsolete.”
Bioethics Defense Fund has compiled an educational resource that highlights the facts that President Obama should have relied on to bring the nation together behind the breakthrough alternative method of induced pluripotent stem cell research which provides cells virtually identical to embryonic stem cells, but without the need for embryos, cloning or egg harvesting.
BDF Senior Counsel Dorinda Bordlee condemned the order as an irresponsible and immoral “Obsolete Science Bailout Plan.” Bordlee pointed out that scientists won't be required to help one patient or develop one treatment in order to keep our federal tax-dollars coming in to fund research on destroyed human embryos.
She also expressed concern that the new federal funding will increase the exploitive market of egg harvesting to create embryos, which typically involves injecting cash-strapped college women with high doses of hormones that endangers their lives and their ovarian health.
The executive order will increase funding for the study of privately created embryonic stem cell lines, but not the direct destruction of human embryos. Efforts in Congress are now underway to repeal the Dickey-Wicker amendment, which currently prohibits the use of federal tax dollars for the actual creation and destruction of human embryos. If Dickey-Wicker is repealed, federal tax dollars could be used to fund human embryo cloning and the creation of IVF human embryos for the sole purpose of their destruction.

Ok, so I'm "pine nuts".... but there's a reason....
I was wondering what the connection is with pine trees and the Catholic Church/Tradition etc. I knew that they're "evergreen" and that would probably mean "everlasting"...and therefore, perhaps the pinecone in so many images would be the "fruit" of the evergreen tree, maybe as a symbol of our Holy Mother Church, and even Mary. This came to the fore when I went with friends Thursday night to a prayer/praise Holy Hour at the Intercessors of the Lamb. When I walked into the large room, the whole wall was lined with pine trees, (artificial of course) and it was a comforting sight. Then I saw the tabernacle, and the LOVELY statue of our Lady, as seen in Medjugorje. I was instantly at peace, but must confess I'd been somewhat dubious, having heard "pro and con" about this place and the Intercessors over the years, from many a source. I was then reminded of one of the dreams of St. Don Bosco, who was going to purchase property that had been offered to him for one of his oratories, but would not even consider doing so, if it was not surrounded by a 'grove of pine trees' as was shown in the dream/vision. I've also heard of pine trees at many shrines, Marian Shrines around the world. There's also significance at Garabandal I believe? Someone let me know of that, please. And the House of Mary Shrine near Yankton, S.D. where I visited twice last Fall is surrounded by pines...evergreens and there are many small groves of pines or cedars (a form of evergreen) around statues of Mary in many grottos near churches/monasteries. If any of you have more information, please do comment. I would appreciate it very much if anyone would care to oPINE. : )

Why is it that the pinecone seems to pop up all over the place in papal regalia? They're on the Papal penitential formale, simplex mitres, on the nodus of the Scorzelli staff, and there's a giant statue of a pine cone in the Vatican gardens, apparently. So, what's its significance?
Next to the Vatican Museums is a large courtyard called the Courtyard of the Pine because of the enormous bronze pine cone situated in it. It isn't a statue. Apparently it dates from around the 1st century BC and was likely to have been used as a fountain in the baths of Agrippa which stood just behind the Pantheon. It was moved in the early Middle Ages and placed in front of the original Basilica of St. Peter built by the Emperor Constantine where it was used as a fountain. The bronze pine cone is one of only a handful of spolia preserved from the original St. Peter's. The "penitential" formale worn recently by Pope Benedict [some dispute that is is really penitential since he has worn the same one on feasts such as Corpus Christi] apparently was a gift to Pope Leo XIII whose coat of arms featured a large pine tree.As to why the pine cone appears on other papal regalia, I don't know. However, in antiquity the pine cone was a religious symbol of rebirth so perhaps it is considered the same in the Catholic Church.

The biggest fattest lie of the Evil one now is, "They'll know we are Christians by our tolerance." That doesn't jive with St. Paul's preaching, however. Not by a long shot! Or ANY of the Saints. It shouldn't be the thinking of so many in the Church now, but yet it is. As Fr. Corapi said "Love can never be separated from Truth. Love and Truth are names of ONE PERSON." The Truth is what our minds crave, to be at peace. Until we rest in the REAL TRUTH, there is no peace. Sin is sin. Hell is real. What we do, what we think, how we live matters! There's no better place to be than the Catholic Church to be in the fullness of Truth, with the 7 Sacraments Jesus gave us, for the grace to LIVE OUR CATHOLIC FAITH. The world is going to hell in a handbasket, and is in the mess it's in because WE, THE CHURCH, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH have failed to become as HOLY AS WE SHOULD. We've not learned the faith, and blame others for our mistakes, wrong choices and 'sins.' Judgment begins IN THE HOUSE OF GOD...for that is the WHY for the condition of our world now. We cannot blame such and such a President, or a Party, or anyone other than "you" and "me" not living as we KNOW we should.

SAINT CASIMIR
King of Poland
(1458-1483)
Casimir, the second son of Casimir III, King of Poland, was born in 1458. From the custody of a very virtuous mother, Elizabeth of Austria, he passed to the guardianship of a devoted master, the learned and pious John Dugloss. Thus animated from his earliest years by precept and example, his innocence and piety soon ripened into the practice of heroic virtue.
In an atmosphere of luxury and magnificence the young prince fasted, wore a hair shirt, slept upon the bare earth, prayed by night, and watched for the opening of the church doors at dawn. He became so tenderly devoted to the Passion of Our Lord that at Mass he seemed quite rapt out of himself; his charity to the poor and afflicted knew no bounds. His love for our Blessed Lady he expressed in a long and beautiful hymn, familiar to us in English as “Daily, Daily, Sing to Mary”. At the age of twenty-five, sick with a long illness, he foretold the hour of his death, and chose to die a virgin rather than accept the life and health which the physicians held out to him in the married state.
The miracles wrought by his body after death fill an entire volume. The blind saw, the lame walked, the sick were healed, a dead girl was raised to life. At one time the Saint in glory, seen in the air by his army, led his Catholic countrymen to battle and delivered them by a wondrous victory from the schismatic Russian hosts.
One hundred and twenty-two years after his death Saint Casimir’s tomb in the cathedral church of Vilna was opened, that the holy remains might be transferred to the rich marble chapel where it now lies. The place was damp, and the very vault crumbled away in the hands of the workmen; yet the Saint’s body, wrapped in robes of silk, still intact, was found whole and incorrupt, and emitting a sweet fragrance which filled the church and refreshed all who were present. Under his head was found his hymn to Our Lady, which he had had buried with him.
Reflection. May the meditation of Saint Casimir’s life make us increase in devotion to the most pure Mother of God — a sure means of preserving holy purity in our own soul.

Once again, in stark contrast to his campaign pledge to "find common ground" on abortion, President Obama has nominated a cabinet official with an extreme pro-abortion record.Today, President Obama nominated Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services. If Governor Sebelius is confirmed by the Senate she will wield tremendous influence over the American healthcare system including federal and state policies regarding abortion, healthcare rights of conscience, and bioethical issues like embryonic stem cell research. Please write to your Senators today and tell them that you oppose Governor Sebelius' confirmation because of her extreme positions on abortion.While Governor of Kansas, Sebelius vetoed a bill, which would have placed much needed restrictions on late term abortions, restrictions that a majority of Americans support. A year before this veto, Sebelius honored notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller and his staff in the Governor's Mansion. The state was not reimbursed for the cost of this political event for over a year. Tiller is currently charged with 19 counts of performing illegal late-term abortions, and his trial begins this month. With a record like this how can we trust Governor Sebelius to oversee the regulation of abortion and the national health care system?
