St Gerard, Pray for us, for our country and all pregnant mothers...

Icon by Fr. William McNichols

Dearest Saint Gerard
You are the Patron of pregnant mothers
and childbirth
please pray for our nation
that has now made
the womb
a killing field
pray for all Catholics
to vote for Life
there's no perfect candidate
but we implore you to pray
for your brothers and sisters
here in America and all
over the world
to "choose life!"
and not fear
fear has brought us a
culture of death
and so many millions of babies
have not been given
the right to life
Please go before our
Blessed Mother Mary,
"Mama Most Holy"
as I read you called her
and plead for us
for Mercy
Thank you, St. Gerard

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us...

Christ speaks to St. Margaret Mary: "Behold this Heart which has so loved men that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself, in order to testify its love. In return, I receive from the greater part only ingratitude, by their irreverence and sacrileges, and by the coldness and contempt they have for me in this sacrament of love.... I come into the heart I have given you in order that through your fervor you may atone for the offenses which I have received from lukewarm and slothful hearts that dishonor me in the Blessed Sacrament" (Third apparition).

The miracle of the sun...91 years ago

October 13, 1917, Fatima

"On October 13, 1917, the crowds had increased to 70,000. Many newspaper reporters and photographers were there to record the miracle or prove the children were lying. The crowd was standing in the relentless, pouring rain with mud up to their ankles. Many were praying the Rosary as the Blessed Mother made her final appearance to the children and told them: "I am the Lady of the Rosary, I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives and ask for pardon for their sins. They must not offend Our Lord any more, for He is already too grievously offended by the sins of men. People must say the Rosary. Let them continue saying it everyday.”

If only....

Saint Edward the Confessor The line that jumps out [at me] upon reading about Edward is:
"Being devoid of personal ambtition, Edward's one aim was the welfare of his people."

If only we could have a politician like St. Edward!

Precious Blood...

Precious Blood
covers the
Body of the Lamb
Love hangs
naked
scarred
beaten
bruised
in the blackened sky
darkened by sin
Forgiveness
pours out from Love's side
to humanity
scattered by pride
Divine Mercy
flows
given to all
who will only
humbly fall
at His feet

To receive or not to receive...

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

It would be refreshing if we could find candidates whose records, party
platforms, and personal commitments embody the full range of the Church's
social teaching, reasonable as that teaching is. Unfortunately that seldom
happens. That is why we must have a well-formed conscience capable of giving
each issue its proper moral weight and making other important distinctions
and judgments. For example, a Catholic may never vote for candidates
precisely because they advocate and advance intrinsic moral evils like
abortion; to do so is to cooperate formally (intentionally) with a grave
evil. And while Faithful Citizenship acknowledges that one may vote for a
politician who supports pro-abortion policies "only for truly grave moral
reasons," a conscientious voter must question what grave moral issue rises
to the level of nearly 49 million lives lost to the evil of abortion.

In Scranton, Pa., every Catholic attending Mass this weekend will hear a
special homily about the election next month: Bishop Joseph Martino has
ordered every priest in the diocese to read a letter warning that voting for
a supporter of abortion rights amounts to endorsing "homicide." "Being
`right' on taxes, education, health care, immigration and the economy fails
to make up for the error of disregarding the value of a human life," the
bishop wrote. "It is a tragic irony that `pro-choice' candidates have come
to support homicide " the gravest injustice a society can tolerate " in the
name of 'social justice.' " --- 5/Oct/2008

So, from Holy Scripture and from church statements it is apparent that those
who promote, support or vote for a politician who is pro- abortion are in a
state of grave sin and should not receive the Lord in the Eucharist. Some
Catholics however disagree with this and do not accept what the church says
or what is said in the Holy Word of God. Some say it is their right to
receive communion, however receiving The Lord is not a right but a privilege
that God offers people in His love. This privilege should not be abused for
as St. Paul states there are serious consequences for doing so. Those who
are in a state of grave sin must have a good confession before receiving The
Lord and must, after that confession, not return to their old ways. To go to
confession with the intention of once having confessed to continue the bad
behaviour or beliefs does not make the confession valid. Some cannot accept
this and in their pride believe they know better than
the church and the Word of God not seeing that this arrogance is a serious
sin in itself as the person is placing their will before that of the will of
God and the will of His holy church. The person is saying that their
knowledge is greater than that of the church and the person is rejecting the
commandment of God 'Thou shalt not kill' and saying that they or those they
support or follow can decide if life is valuable or not and that God has no
say in this. Today many Catholics demand their rights which in truth are
their wrongs but they are so blind they cannot see this as they believe more
in the word of the world instead of The Word of God.

To come to communion in a state of grave sin makes true union with God
impossible as the person holds on to a barrier between them and God which
blocks unity with Christ, Our Lord. To be one with Him means to be one in
the truth of His love, to be obedient to His will and to reject all sin.
While the world and people's pride may make many arguments against this none
of them change this eternal truth. People should think about how it hurts
Our Lord, that those who profess to love Him, come with that on their hearts
which is of the dark and not of the light of His love. No Catholic in a
state of grave sin should ever consider partaking of The Body, Blood, Soul
and Divinity of The Lord, Jesus, in the Eucharist for doing so in itself is
an insult to God and to all those who live or have lived as God asks. It is
time for those who support abortion in any way to realize the wrong they
embrace excludes them from receiving The Divine Lord, Jesus, in the
Eucharist and in humility confess their wrong and reject it from then on
and in true love come and be one with and in Him in communion in the state
of grace they are supposed to be in.

God bless,

Alan Ames

Just what I needed!...

Beautiful and timely reflection, by Marie.

Reflection
There is an element of self seeking in each of us, that little voice that says 'what's in it for me' or when we do something good we want others to know about it and expect congratulations to follow. Faith is the exact opposite it is the realisation that whatever good we do is not on behalf of God but because God has empowered us and given particular Gifts to each of us individually. It is this Gift flowing from God's Grace that we put into effect when helping others or when we stand for what we believe in the face of persecution. Faith is in essence a spilling out of God's Love through us and towards all we meet. The measure of the Faith we have is the level in which we love.

This Sacred Heart doesn't beat for Himself, alone, but for us. When our hearts are beating in gratitude, then we will be able to love as we have been loved, to give of ourselves as we have received from Him, LOVE. ~ susie

Host Desecration Videos Back on YouTube

October 10, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Host desecration videos originally pulled from YouTube have been reposted.

The 40 separate desecration videos - originally posted in mid-August - showed the Host being flushed down a toilet, stomped on and fed to ducks.

In response to a petition spearheaded by America Needs Fatima, the desecration videos were pulled from YouTube on October 1, but were then reposted the same day.

Robert Ritchie, director of America Needs Fatima, explained: "As Catholics, we believe the Host is the body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ. Witnessing the desecration of the Host causes anguish to Catholics all over the world."

Ritchie added: "In the past, YouTube has removed videos offensive to Jews and members of other religions, including one showing a teenager urinating on a Holocaust memorial. Why can't Catholics be afforded the same respect for our deeply held beliefs? "

"The desecration of the Host is not an acceptable form of free speech. The only message it conveys is one of unremitting hatred," Ritchie said.

St. Padre Pio, pray for us!...

Read here and scroll to Father's newest article about
Padre Pio, Humanae Vitae, and Mandatory Abortion
Padre Pio is patron of the unborn.

St. Pio defended the controversial encyclical, praising its “lofty teachings” and “eternal truths.”

An aspect of the document often overlooked today is its grim warning that governments might “impose” contraceptive methods on citizens.

In the light of the Humanae Vitae’s other accurate predictions,
are mandatory birth control and abortion on the horizon for America?

Racing for the cure? Maybe not...

Komen Race for the Cure isn't helping breast cancer research, but actually supporting Planned Parenthood which doles out contraceptives that are KNOWN to cause...breast cancer.

Our Lady of La Leche Church...

I'm finding out some fun facts today.

St. Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565, and is the oldest city in the present-day United States of America. The first Christian worship service held in a permanent settlement in the current United States was a Catholic Mass celebrated in St. Augustine. A few settlements were founded prior to St. Augustine but all failed, including the original Pensacola colony in West Florida, founded by TristĂ¡n de Luna y Arellano in 1559, with the area abandoned in 1561 due to hurricanes, famine and warring tribes, and Fort Caroline in what is today Jacksonville, Florida in 1564. The city was founded by the Spanish admiral Pedro MenĂ©ndez de AvilĂ©s on September 8, 1565. MenĂ©ndez first sighted land on August 28, the feast day of Augustine of Hippo, and consequently named the settlement San AgustĂn. Martin de Arguelles was born here one year later in 1566, the first child of European ancestry to be born in what is now the United States. This came 21 years before the English settlement at Roanoke Island in Virginia Colony, and 42 years before the successful settlements of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Jamestown, Virginia. In all the territory under the jurisdiction of the United States, only settlements in Puerto Rico are older than St. Augustine, with the oldest being San Juan, founded in 1512.

Who knew? I sure didn't...

You just gotta love the Catholic Church, don't you? I mean, this is really cool! My son, Steve, played Rugby and I had no idea I'd find anything like this! Yep, it's true, Our Lady loves her kids...
This is a very nicely written article on the blending of faith and sport.

A most Ignorant dupe... nothing new under the sun

Bear in mind that, in recounting these things, I am still dealing with those ignorant dupes who gave birth and popular currency to the saying: "If there is draught, blame the Christians."
St. Augustine - City of God

Unfortunately, however, there prevails a major and malignant malady of fools, the victims of which mistake their irrational impulses for truth and reason, even when confronted with as much evidence as any man has a right to expect from another. It may be an excess of blindness which prevents them from seeing the most glaring facts, or a perverse obstinacy which prevents them from accepting the facts when seen. St Augustine - City of God

He [St. Augustine (354-430 AD)] dealt with obstreperous fools back then as we deal with them now. Bill, you cute little ignoramus you. Don't ya know, God loves you? I hope you'll come to believe that one day. I love you, too, even if you annoy the snot out of me. I can't hate you, for that would be a waste of time, breath and energy. You're a smug and a very little, little man. Where did you go to college? Was it a university? Oh let's just see....Yep it was Cornell. Well, Billy-boy, THANK THE CATHOLIC CHURCH and the RELIGIOUS communities of centuries ago who FOUNDED UNIVERSITIES for fools like you. You're a spoiled, obnoxious, whiny brat. Grow up. Get some religion before hatred kills you. Oh yeah, if your hatred for "religion" makes you very sick down the road, as hatred tends to do, I'd venture to guess you'd probably go to a hospital. Right? Once again, THANK THE CATHOLICS for those, too, for it is the CATHOLIC CHURCH which founded those places of healing, later other Christians then followed their lead and built many, too.

If nothing else, Billy, you'd better pray, or hope or rub your crystal or whatever it is you do when you're alone, and fear invades you as it does us all at times...you'd better hope you're right! If we're wrong, we're just fools and idiots as you say. If you're wrong, well, Hell is a LONG TIME to find out how wrong you were. There's Divine Mercy for all right now, so if I were you, I'd consider returning to the faith you shrugged off or left or perhaps lost, for in the end it's either Heaven or Hell that is our destiny. God in his mercy won't make you "come to heaven" if you're hell-bent shall we say on choosing Hell. But don't think you'll be giddy there, Bill, in a place where religion is 'no more.' I don't think it's a place you want to be. But you've got your God-given free will, so I pray you choose wisely, while you can still bend your knee in repentance and not unmitigated fear. I pray that for myself as well, because there but by the grace of God, go I. Grace. Receive it, and cling to it, or reject it and spend eternity (again a LONG TIME that NEVER ends) finding out how WRONG you are.

To my readers: Bill says he "used to be a Catholic." We must pray for him. Our Lady wants him back, near her forgiving and Immaculate Heart, where so many of us who were lost souls have come to find peace. Let us hope for him who seems to have lost hope. I can be a bit sarcastic, but many Saints were, too, and called many folks names worse than I have done. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck... or in this case, a little, dolt, albeit a cute blathering dolt. Saint Augustine pray for us all. Pray for Bill who, like you, has left with a restless and angry heart. We do pray you come back Home to the Church, Bill. Stop wasting your time bashing people of faith...or I mean, Christians. I'm pretty sure you don't bash Muslims or Hindus much...or you might lose your head, eh Bill? Rest assured you can bash us all you want, us "idiot Catholics," but we won't pull out a sword and swipe it across your neck as most radical, extremist Muslims, and extreme Hindus who've hi-jacked their faiths, tend to do when made fun of by anyone. You're making hay and much cashola now, so knock yourself out, just make peace with God before your "day is done."

How long . . .

http://www.westsrbdio.org/images/HristosNimfios1.gif

How long will you keep murdering Me?
What you do to the least of these
you do unto Me!
Holy Maria baby Jesus icon (red)

Here is He whom we will answer to one day, for. . .

Above the Shrine's main altar is Christ in Majesty. The world’s largest mosaic image of Christ is the centerpiece of the Great Upper Church. The icon is over 3,600 square feet and contains nearly 3 million tiles. Eminence inspires veneration.

God will not be mocked.

He's lavished us with such great love,
but we shrug Him off
Those 10 commandments of His are so darn ancient
Religion is so stupid and "old fashioned"

God will not be mocked

We don't need God!
God's for feeble old ladies
and weak people who
can't think for themselves

God will not be mocked

I don't want or need another
baby at this point in my life
I will choose abortion
for it is "MY RIGHT"

God will not be mocked

45 million aborted babies
45 million killed in the wombs of their mothers
since Roe v. Wade
How many more will die
because of such a heinous law?
Their blood cries out day and night...

God will not be mocked

This baby boy is...

14 big fat lies...

Joe Biden's 14 Lies

1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”

14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

On this the Little Flower's feast....

My dearest Saint Therese, pray for us!
Send us a shower of roses
to know you've heard us
roses of grace
the grace of Jesus
falling on us poor souls
who grow weary in our struggle
Pray for us to be strong and courageous
as you were, Little Flower.
Little Flower of God's tender garden
pray that we'll remain faithful to the end
of our lives, doing little things
with great love.
Show us your Little Way every day
and may we finally join you in heaven
at the feet of our beloved Jesus
to be lifted up to his most Sacred Heart
as you were lifted in his arms
to nestle there near his Heart.
Take our prayers there, Saint Therese,
and tell Jesus we are grateful
for his Divine Mercy and
we will offer our sufferings, great and small,
for the poor souls who are not grateful.
For as you said,
"Love can only be repaid by Love."
